For now: We're staying where we are...

After much deliberating, making lists of Pro's and Con's, back and forth conversating, crying, arguing (loud frustrated discussions), we have decided to take the house off the market and stay put.  All the foreclosures and short sales are bringing down the comps so low, we refuse to give our house away...

At the moment, I am too tired to adequately express how I feel...more later...

I hope everything works out for you. I know what you mean. We purchased a house in Naples, FL, that was a short sale. We really got a fabulous deal, and I love that area. Good luck and renew your energy levels.

So sorry to read of your frustrations. I'm afraid we may be in the same boat. My future SIL's mother is a nurse. She's concerned about us moving and then Ron getting worse. She says that his foot may never heal and sees amputation in his future. She hates for me to get moved somewhere and face things by myself.

Sonia: How long did the process take to have possession of the short sale house in Naples, Florida? We are contemplating getting a small place in CALI so we have a place to stay when we travel there to visit.

Already, I feel so much relief, mainly from all the decisions and the packing. I still feel sad, because I want to be closer to my kids and grand kids...but, it could be so much worse. I could live 8 hours away or a distance where I would have to fly. We've made it work this long...we can do it a little longer...

Donna, I am sorry also for frustration and disappointment, yet think there will be a peaceful stretch here with no big decisions about moving. I hope there is relief with that taken out of the equation for now. Maybe there will be time to catch your breath and think of other things - or nothing - for a while. xoxo

Teresa: My heart goes out to you. Your move is so much further than ours. Kansas to Seattle...YE--OOOWWW! The entire success of your "mission" is selling yours and your son and DIL finding the appropriate house for all of you, plus the handicap consideration. Not impossible...but definitely a challenge!

The problem we encountered were all the short sales and foreclosures, bringing down the comps and consequently, the offers on our home. Ironically, with all the short sales and foreclosures in CA, we were not presented with anything decent with the square footage we were looking for. Now we are considering looking for a smaller place. One bedroom and one bath, just to have a place to stay when we travel there to visit.

These are trying times...but I am holding good thoughts for you and praying for miracles.

Stay strong and keep in prayer dear friend...

Marylinn: Right now, as much as I want to make my children, grandchildren, family and friends my priority...I must focus on my husband. He needs to retire. He works 12 hours today, and is working today, Sunday. I am concerned for his health. Once we get the Reverse Mortgage behind us, get him retired, then we can concentrate on maybe finding a smaller place in Cali. Then, when we visit, we can have a place to stay. Maybe within the next 5 years, we will have simplified ourselves and our "stuff" to where we would fit in a much smaller space. I sure hope so.
