Magpie Tales #58: Warrior Woman

Photograph motivation by Tess Kincaid
Challenge by Magpie Tales

She is self-sufficient.
She knows
herself,
 breathing independence;
learning what it takes
to make her smile,
to sigh,
to love,
to feel
fulfilled,
happy,
 feeling free...
She picks her battles,
 stands her ground;
following her gut.
Her shield
is integrity,
values,
faith,
inner knowing,
intuition,
perception...
Fierce courage of
inner strength
weaves
and wraps
the
comfort
in her
skin.
She is a
warrior woman,
birth er of children,
survivor of death,
 divorce,
enforcer for truth.
She can
wield a sword
or hold the
lantern high,
illuminating
communication
and
negotiation.
She labors
she toils
she struggles
she endures
she seeks
she finds...
she never
ever
gives up

That is a beautiful description of several women I know. It's the never giving up part that sometimes makes me pause... and pick up the struggle again. Thanks for the poetry, Donna. And happy spring to one of the strongest women I know!

You rock! I like that kind of warrior much better than the traditional one! And, love the part about picking your battles.

Donna, your painting is awesome. That's quite a talent you have there my friend. Are you still doing it, and have you done anything recently? I also loved the poem about Warrior Woman.

Oh, I really like that--not just the words, but the visual of the words, the way they are structured on the page. They almost take on the curves of the feminine form, but feel sturdy as something growing from the ground up...awesome...

Thank you everyone for all your interesting and appreciative comments! I aspire to be such a woman, but I wrote it with many women in mind. There are so many strong women out there and it is a tribute to them...(YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!)

Isabel, I like what you said," mountains are conquered and great poems written". Those are words I will hold close...thank you!

Wanda: You flatter me. I hope to be. You are right, I wrote it about women I love and respect.

120 Socks: Thanks...takes one to know one...

DJan: You resemble a WW...thank you...it was written for all of us. Enjoy your Texas trip!

Helen, Mary, gautami & Hyper-critical: thank you so much.

Thisisme: Thank you on the painting. I am conjouring up another painting in my mind...will let you know... thank you too about the poem...
