Has Anyone Had This Reaction???

Yesterday, I got the Shingles vaccine. So far, I am very impressed with my new health insurance...I had zero co-pay, covering the vaccine 100%. SWEET!

I have been busy the last two days, but today, I asked my husband to look at my arm (they inject the vaccine just under the skin, on the under side of the arm, so it is not easy for me to view...)

I have a red circle about the size of a silver dollar around the injection site...doesn't itch...is a little hard to touch, kind of tender, but no pain.  I have been icing it and am now in between ice packs to write this...

Anyone else have any reactions to the Shingles vaccine?

I had a shingles shot a couple of years ago and had no reaction. I would call and ask about your reaction if the spot doesn't go away.
I'm glad you got the vaccine....shingles is an awful thing to have.

When I had mine (and I had to pay $75 even with supplemental Medicare insurance), I had a lot of tenderness for days, but it eventually went away. I'm so glad you got it, though. Shingles is awful if you get it. The vaccine only keeps 50% of us from getting it, but I'll take that. It also keeps it from being so bad if you do get it.

No sorry, I was not even aware there was a vaccine, hope it stops irritating you soon.

I haven't gotten it yet, Donna, but I'm sure I'll get it when they recommend it (isn't it after 60 or something like that?)

(not that I'm making you to feel old, LOL)

glad to hear the new insurance is working out well!

I bet it is a local reaction from the shot or maybe what they used to clean your skin before you got the shot? I think, like you are probably doing, watch it and if it doesn't go away in a few days or gets bigger then get it checked out.

Nope - I didn't even know there was such a thing. Hope it gets better quickly.

Sounds like a pretty routine vaccine reaction. I had no idea that they had a vaccine for shingles. Wish I had known. The shingles are absolutely no fun at all!
