Magpie #52: Fills My Heart With Gratitude...

Challenge: Magpie Tales

the weather report
said, "more snow"
oh  please keep me sane
as the winter winds blow

this tiny abode
a small green cottage
with a roaring fire
to save on the wattage

cuddle me in
my cozy fate
pj's and slippers
I'm ready to create

first things first
need something to eat
all bets are off
I want something sweet

drape the apron
around my neck
let's bake some cookies
what the heck

munching the cookies
sipping hot tea
balancing my laptop
upon my knee

tapping the keyboard
sending emails of love
reaching out to family
I feel deprived of

gotta keep myself busy
with them so far away
living lives of work and kids
as I seek to fill up my day

Happy now as this I think:
the weather may force my solitude
yet, visiting my blogging friends
fills my heart with gratitude

My thought exactly. I am snowed in and going nowhere and no one is coming here either. Great time to read all my Magpie friends with a nice cup of hot tea!

Donna, am extremely impressed with your poetic ability, while sitting with tea and a laptop on your knee!

I so enjoyed reading the story you created with your poem... it's rather warm here in Florida right now.... it sounds quite cozy to bake cookies with snow falling outside!

Your header photograph reminds me of a John Ford western. You asked Words Crafter to tell you more of the free "Kindle for PC" app Amazon offers.

If you go to my blog, WRITING IN THE CROSSHAIRS :

http://rolandyeomans.blogspot.com/

And scroll down my sidebar, you will find the link to get it. It's a bit down there, right under my eagle counter. And when you get the free kindle for your PC, check out my THE BEAR WITH TWO SHADOWS. Hibbs (the bear in question) is waiting for you, along with some laughs, thrills, and tears. Roland

This is so nice - cheerful, witty - definitely a fun read even though the writer is alone.
